Part of buying a home is the down payment verification process. Here’s how you can prepare yourself!
Halifax pride and homeownership
Halifax Pride is about to kick off its 2021 run! While Pride is usually a July event, this year’s August celebrations are sure to be worth the wait. With a mix of in-person and online celebrations, we’re all set for our second pandemic festival. Here’s what this year’s Pride has in store, and what you should look for in the market to have pride in your home.
What’s happening this year
After mastering online events last year, this year’s Pride festivities are once again combining in-person and virtual activities. Rest assured that all in-person events will follow public health guidelines to ensure everyone is safe! The festival site at Garrison Grounds will feature smaller live events, while you can stream online performances and take part in other events from the comfort of your home. Some great in-person activities will include brunches, drag performances, fitness and meditation classes, and panels and discussions. You can view the full calendar of events here. While we won’t be able to enjoy the traditional Halifax Pride Parade, this year’s celebrations will still be memorable!
Finding the right team
Much like finding the right space to be yourself and feel included in a community, it’s important to find the best team to help you achieve your homeownership goals. You should always feel like you’re being heard, and that the people you work with have your best interests at heart. For us, Halifax Pride extends beyond the scheduled festivities and is part of the work we do every day. We want you to feel confident in your choices, and we want to help you along the way to finding the perfect place to call home! Working with an unbiased mortgage broker who understands your needs will give you peace of mind that you have someone on your side who is committed to finding the best mortgage product for you.
Finding a neighbourhood that makes you proud
Halifax is a growing and evolving city with several different neighbourhoods. It’s important to feel like you’ve found the right place to settle when searching for that dream home. Do some research when you’re browsing, and visit neighbourhoods that interest you. You should get a good sense for how they look and whether you get a good vibe from them. As amazing and progressive as we believe Halifax is, the LGBTQIA2S+ community still faces discrimination and it’s important to feel safe and accepted in your neighbourhood. Try to balance out your everyday housing needs, such as amenities and access to transit, with the overarching need to feel at home. You shouldn’t have to compromise to find a home that suits you!
Halifax Pride is full of fun activities and events, but it’s also a whole lot more than that. It’s about celebrating this community and how far we have come, while also recognizing how much more needs to be done. We believe pride should be part of our everyday lives, which is why we’re committed to helping everyone feel at home!
Halifax Pride runs from August 12-22.
