Some tips on interior decorating for winter
Planning on some interior decorating for winter?
The smell of food roasting in the oven fills the house with warmth and comfort. The fire is crackling in the living room, inviting you to snuggle up in a cozy blanket. You look outside and see big fluffy snowflakes fall from the sky and create a nice white blanket over the ground. Okay, let’s hold on a second. Winter isn’t here just quite yet, but it’s just around the corner. This means it’s now the time to start thinking about decorating your home! Here are a few different ways you can embrace the weather and make your home a cozy, warm haven from the dropping temperatures. Embrace the change and plan out interior decorating for winter!
No need to be salty!
Some of the less attractive parts of the cooler weather are the constant salt stains in the entryway. It seems like a never-ending cycle of cleaning salt stains off the floor, just for them to appear again. Kind of like the never-ending pile of laundry! Having a couple of key features in your entryway or mudroom will hopefully help ease the pain of cleaning salt stains off the floor. Starting the minute you walk in the door, a simple doormat will help diminish the amount of dirt and salt and other gobbledygook being tracked through the house.
Additionally, having hooks or a coat rack can have a major impact on the organization and cleanliness in the mudroom. Wet coats can hang to dry and everything is ready for you when you are ready to head out the door again. Putting in sliding hooks that can move across the wall can even make it easier to accommodate those bulky jackets!
Liven up your space
We all know that wintertime can also mean that it gets a little dark and dreary. To help combat the winter blues, liven up space a bit! Decorating with some greenery can transform the space into a brighter environment. This can even have a positive effect on your mood. The trick is to not go too overboard and to keep it simple. Keep it neutral and bright to create a calming and relaxing vibe. Adding throws and blankets around the house can go along way in making things cozy. This also provides some much-needed warmth when curling up on the couch.
Spruce up the bedding
One of the best parts of the cooler winter weather is the fact that you can snuggle up in bed. Sprucing up your bedding is a great way to prep for winter hibernation. Adding a furry throw to the bed like a faux fur pillow will instantly bring the winter vibes without breaking the bank – also without hurting an animal! Moreover, swapping out your light summer sheets for some warmer winter ones will make it so you never want to get out of bed in the morning! Flannel bed sheets are an affordable option that is soft and keep the warmth radiating in your bed. If you don’t want to splurge on some new sheets, piling on more blankets will add some insulation and you can easily add or subtract layers from the bed.
The blistering cold weather is the perfect excuse to make the home feel more inviting and warmer. Wintertime is all about adding textures and colors to the space to create a flawless vibe. Primping up your space to accommodate the cold wet weather will allow you to cozy up in a blanket and sip your latte by the fireplace in peace. Winter is coming, so make sure you’re ready for it!
