Meet Dan,
After serving in the Canadian Armed Forces, he graduated from the Radio and Television program at Confederation College and got his start in Dryden, Ontario. From there, the job took him to Thunder Bay and Owen Sound before he packed up and headed east to join Rogers in Atlantic Canada.
Dan started in New Brunswick as a news anchor before moving into talk radio, hosting The Drive with Dan Ahlstrand and later The New Brunswick Morning News.
In 2011, he moved to Halifax and News 95.7. Over the years, Dan worked as a morning news anchor, managing editor, and News Director, helping lead the newsroom through elections, hurricanes, wildfires, and some of Nova Scotia’s biggest breaking stories.
His work has been recognized nationally and regionally by the Radio Television Digital News Association and the Atlantic Journalism Awards.
In 2026, Dan took over as host of Nova Scotia Today, bringing more than two decades of newsroom experience to conversations about the stories and issues that matter to people across the province.
Dan now brings his decades of broadcasting and storytelling experience to the Clinton Wilkins Mortgage Team. He looks forward to helping make conversations about mortgages and personal finance clear, approachable, and engaging.
When he’s not working, you’ll probably find him fly fishing, curling or keeping an eye on one of his favourite teams.
